Introduction to Parkinol® (ITL-1634)

Indication: Parkinson’s Disease/RLS

Patient Population: About 1.5 million Americans and 5 million patients world-wide have Parkinson’s disease (PD), a progressive, debilitating disease that results from a depletion of dopamine in the brain from a loss of dopamine producing cells in specific brain regions. The disease is characterized by various movement disorders, including tremor and inability to initiate movement (ataxia). Depression and schizophrenic behavior are often associated with the disease and may be caused by the drug therapies themselves through elevation of

dopamine levels in the wrong brain regions.

The Problem with Current Therapy: No currently marketed drug has been shown to be curative or neuroprotective or slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease. Levodopa is the current “gold standard” for PD therapy but only provides symptomatic and declining relief as the disease progresses.

The Solution: Parkinol® is a new molecular entity designed to arrest the root cause of cell death in the CNS in PD patients. Parkinol® is designed to arrest disease progression and may be curative.
